I made this Hebridean Fleece into a lovely rug, it is not the softest of rugs, but it sure is shaggy. I prefer to leave my rugs as they come out while making them, so I make no excuse that this is a seriously funny shape! I have left it shaggy as it came out ofter washing, this is more like they would be naturally on the sheep. This rug’s tones range from black to grey, it has a long length staple which makes it shaggy. It turned out a very weird shape, I just rugged what was good of the fleece. This rug has more black in it than grey, but still has a wide range of black, grey tones.

I made this Gotland Fleece into a lovely rug, but it is so dreamy soft I would use it as a throw. If it is kept on the back of your sofa / settee you can snuggle it around you on cooler evenings. It is so clean and soft, with such an array of grey tones. Because it is neutral colours it would go with any colour decor. I make my rugs / throws so they look like would have on the sheep, this fleece is so big it will just curl around you.

I made this Romney Fleece into a lovely rug, it is very soft and very lush. I don’t know any other fleece that is as dense and soft as a Romney. I make rugs of of British rare breed sheep to celebrate how brilliant a resource it is, as such I make my rugs so they look like would have on the sheep, this fleece has a marker that did not come out with the making and washing of the rug. It is part of the sheep life, I love it when the marker stays in.

I made some Cheviot fleece rugs and thought I would see how well they held dye. Cheviot fleece is lovely and soft and because it doesn’t have a very long staple length, it is ideal for fleece cushions and rugs. I put the rug into a dye mix in a black bin bag and left it out in the sun to see what would happen, I love the way the dye caught more on the tips and left the deeper parts of the fleece cream.
