I purchased a part felted Romney fleece, that means it has already started felting similar to what I do when I make shorn fleece into a rug. (See more here). It filled my kitchen floor when it came and it wasn’t very clean. I need to rug the fleece, wet felt the underneath, before I can clean it. This fleece turned into green slime when I had finished rigging and washing it. But it was massive!
Over 4 months I re-soaked it for 48 hours, washed it and dried it. As it was cleaning up I could see it had potential! Wow. This is the most stunning and the biggest rug I have made!! Trust me I have made hundreds!
I see this rug in a stunning luxury bedroom. You will not get a more luxurious plush cream wet felted rug as this one. One of a kind.

I made some Cheviot fleece rugs and thought I would see how well they held dye. Cheviot fleece is lovely and soft and because it doesn’t have a very long staple length, it is ideal for fleece cushions and rugs. I put the rug into a dye mix in a black bin bag and left it out in the sun to see what would happen, I love the way the dye is so dense and made the backing purple too. Purple is my favourite colour.

I have made some Cheviot fleece pieces and thought I would see how well it held dye. Cheviot fleece is lovely and soft and because it doesn’t have a very long staple length, it is ideal for fleece cushions. I knitted a back to the fleece in red chunky wool, the cushion has an envelope neck which is kept closed with popper. Inside is a polyester cushion pad.

I have made this cushion from 4 different fleece. The cream front is Alpaca fleece, so dreamy soft, the dark locks of a Wensleydale fleece are brushed out on the front of the cushion, and left as tight locks, for the fringe around the outside. The stuffing is Texel fleece.

This peg rug is made from a wide variety of fleece. When I first started exploring washing and spinning fleece I tried out a wide variety of fleece. I made this peg rug with my spun fleece. It is very heavy and has an array of colours. I washed the fleece, carded it, then spun it and use the clean yarn to make this peg rug.
