A Tale of Two Seat Pads – Custom Peg Looming with a Twist!

A Tale of Two Seat Pads – Custom Peg Looming with a Twist!

Day 1: The Message from Across the Pond

A few months ago, I got a lovely message from a lady in the USA who’d been browsing through my website, eyeing up my peg loomed fleece creations. She wanted something specific — a seat pad made to her exact measurements. Not just a “that’ll do” size — the perfect fit for her favourite spot. I love working on custom orders like this. There’s something magical about collaborating on a practical, personal item.

Day 2: Talking Details and Handy Ideas

As we chatted back and forth about dimensions and fleece types, she suddenly asked, “Would it be possible to add a handle to carry it?” — and that’s when this little project became even more interesting. After a bit of brainstorming, we agreed that a macramé handle, made with cotton to match the warp, would do the trick. It needed to be sturdy but also discreet — something that would tuck away when the seat pad was in use. I love it when people bring fresh ideas to the table!

Day 3: Choosing the Perfect Fleece

Next came the fun part — choosing the fleece. She browsed through my past creations, eyeing up different breeds and natural shades until she settled on a beautiful fleece that had just the right look and texture. It’s always fascinating to see what people are drawn to — some love the soft creams, others the rugged darker tones. Each fleece has its own character and charm. She chose a very soft dark brown fleece with golden highlights.

Day 4: Making the Magic

With the measurements set and the fleece chosen, I got to work. Peg looming the pad was a joy — I really do love how these items come together. And the handle? A neat macramé twist that blended beautifully with the warp. It’s functional but stylish — not something you often say about a seat pad, but here we are!

Day 5: A Happy Ending… and a Surprise Second Order!

The finished seat pad was shipped across the pond, and I waited nervously to hear what she thought. When her message came through, I was over the moon — she loved it so much, she ordered another one, this time in a completely different fleece shade! There’s nothing more rewarding than knowing someone is enjoying something you’ve made by hand — and using it daily.

I made another seat pad to sell with a handle – this time I actually used macramé knots.

Day 6: Fancy Designing Your Own? Let’s Chat!

This project was such a joy, and it made me realise how much I enjoy collaborating with people to create something truly personal. So if you’re reading this and thinking, “I’ve got an idea…” — I’d love to hear it. Whether it’s a specific size seat pad, a fleece colour you’ve seen and loved, or even a brand-new idea for a peg loomed item, let’s talk! I can work with you on size, fleece breed, warp colour, and extra features — like a secret handle, perhaps?

Day 7: Calling All Peg Loom Enthusiasts!

If you’re a fellow peg loomer or just someone who appreciates woolly things, I’d love to get your thoughts. What would your dream peg loomed item be? Have you ever thought about adding features like pockets, handles, or shaping? Leave a comment, send me a message, or tag me on socials — let’s get a conversation going and see what we can come up with together. Who knows — your idea might just be the next custom creation I get to bring to life!
